Looking for Waldorf homeschool activities that are developmentally appropriate? In this video, we work with a bean bag while crossing the beam. By placing a bean bag on the head, the child may feel the uprightness even more clearly. So, again, we walk the board forward and backward. Then we can move the bean bag from hand to hand, raising it above the head to switch it to the other hand. Each hand transfer happens with each step. This helps the child work on balance as well as the coordination of movements between the upper and lower limbs, the arms and the legs. As the child swings the bean bag from side to side, there are subtle weight distribution adjustments being made, further improving the child's balance.
