Looking for Waldorf homeschool activities to do with your student or child? Let's bring in some math work with our balance beam! Again, the principle applies that when we know something forward and backward, we really know it. I can choose an equation to work with while walking the balance beam. It may seem strange that I have spoken the equation by starting with the answer. With young children, this can be very helpful because we are moving from "whole to parts". This is a fundamental approach in Waldorf Education, especially in the early grades. So we walk forward speaking the equation "Six equals three plus three." For each word, I take a step forward. Then I say it in reverse while walking backward: "Three plus three equals six." Again, I take a backward step for each word.
